A source has revealed to Reporters, that yesterday’s raid on the residence of former Governor of Gombe State and incumbent Senator, Danjuma Goje, was masterminded by the ag. Chairman of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), Mr. Ibrahim Magu.
According to the Source, Mr. Magu masterminded the raid, using the police, in his attempt towards avoiding the use of the EFCC to conduct the raid, as a result of the close relationship between the embattled EFCC Boss and the Nigerian Senate, where Magu’s nomination as the substantive Chairman of the Commission, have been twice rejected.
Recall, that Senator Danjuma Goje and the suspended Borno Senator, Ali Ndume were the arrowhead of the plot to secure the senate ratification for the re-nomination of Magu. The source hinted that Magu had earlier provided what was described as lobby fund, which was made available in United States Dollar denominations and handed over same to Senator Goje, to buy his way through the screening process.
But rather than scaling through the Senate’s hurdle, Mr. Magu was for the second time rejected by the Senate, prompting his determination, to retrieve the said fund back from the duo of Danjuma Goje and Senator Ali Ndume.
To the astonishment of Magu and the Inspector General of Police, who He had contracted for the assignment of recovering the supposedly hidden fund from Goje’s residence, the police search only yielded the discovery of USD14,000 (fourteen thousand dollars), at Danjuma Goje’s Abuja residence.
It still remains unclear what other options Magu will employ after this failed attempt or what the reaction of Goje or the senate will further be.
