Rivers Election: Withdrawal of Wike’s Security, is a call for anarchy…..Civil Society says

The Civil Society Alliance for the Sustenance of Democracy (CSASD) have described the withdrawal of the Security details, including the Chief Security Officer attached to the Rivers State Governor, Chief Nyesom Wike, by the Inspector General of Police as a call for anarchy.

Rising from a meeting in Abuja with a select group of Civil Society Organisations and International observers ahead of the Saturday court ordered legislative rerun elections in the State, spokesman of the group, Comrade Olufemi Lawson says the latest action of the Inspector General of Police, have further vindicated its earlier claim that the Federal Government is desperate to manipulate the outcome of the rerun elections, using the various security agencies.

Recall that the group have sometimes last week raised alarm over strange deployment of Army, Police and men of other security agencies to Rivers State ahead of the coming legislative elections.

The group wondered why the APC led Federal Government, will be throwing decency into the wind, all in an attempt to subjugate the will of the people of Rivers State. He reminded President Buhari and those he described as Abuja based politicians from Rivers State who are hell bent on rigging the rerun election, to remember that we have the current government in Nigeria today because some persons were kind enough to elevate our collective interest as a nation, above individual ambitions.

The group therefore called on the people of Rivers State, to use every legitimate means to resist the attempt to rig the election or intimidate them from exercising their franchise come Saturday. It also lauded the maturity of Governor Wike for remaining law abiding even in the face of the unprovoked assaults by the agencies of the Federal government and leaders of the APC in the State.
