Southern Nigeria Youth to hold Summit on Restructuring

Youth under the aiges of Southern Nigerian Youth Conference, on Monday said it is set to hold a National Dialogue on Restructuring Nigeria. The Dialogue, according to the group, is to appraise the perpespive of Youth of Southern Nigeria extraction, collate their inputs, and seek workable solution to the many challenges, currently facing the country, Nigeria.

Speaking on behalf of the group in Lagos on Monday, spokesman of the group, Comrade Olufemi Lawson, disclosed that the gathering, which will hold in June, will have representatives of Youth based Ethnic organisations such as the Igbimo Odo Yoruba, Ijaw Youth Council (IYC), their Southeast counterparts, members of the Civil Society and Faith based organisations from the 17 States of the Southern Nigeria.

Lawson further stated, that the gathering which would be a one- Agenda parly that has to do with restructuring Nigeria, is to add the view of the young people of the region, to the various recommendations and opinions, that have become prevalent, in the face of the increasingly growing agitation, for the immediate restructuring of Nigeria, particularly as the Nation approaches another crucial election year.

He further said that the Southern Nigerian Youth Conference believe, that it is in the overall interest of all ethnic groups in Nigeria, for the country to be reorganized in such a way that True Federalism is enthrenched and our democracy properly operated by a constitution, that will be produced, by the Nigerian people.

The group also commended those Leaders it described as Patriots, from the various ethnic, religious and socio-cultural organizations such as Afenifere, Pan Niger Delta Forum, Ohaneze Ndigbo, the Middle Belt Union among others, for their consistency, in demanding for an overall restructuring of Nigeria.
